Flight of the Dragon

A virtual reality journey into teaching motor and order of operations skills
VR Hackathon 2018, Winner for “Best Interaction Design”

Hackathon Goal

To teach a order of operations or motor skill using the unique freedoms allowed by learning in a simulated VR space.   In VR we can project visual cues, slow down and speed up physics, and many other physically impossible things that would allow a learner to train for a real world skill.

What it does

In this case we chose to teach a user to juggle…using dragons.  😀  By wrapping the skill training into a game with the narrative of teaching young dragons to fly, users are guided along the learning path.  Visual aids for proper juggling techniques as well as narrator prompts are used to ready the learner.  As the learner becomes more familiar with the skill they can try more advanced techniques such as slowing down or speeding up the physics of the dragons.
